Was this October 17th? It felt like mid winter today, not fall. Brooks sported their long sleeve striped greens today. The wind was tough once again and it took the first 15 minutes for Brooks to get into the game. Rivers played well in that time but weren't able to do much besides a couple of long shots on Glen. Shortly after that 15 minute mark, the game turned. A long, over the top ball, a streaking Nick in alone on the keeper, Brooks up 1-0. The rest of the first half was uneventful. Lots of back and forth play; wind driven, errant passes. Zach took a very hard hack to the ankle which sent him to the sideline for the last 20 minutes. 1-0 at the half.
The second half started much the same way the first half ended. About 8 minutes in, Zach picked up one of the long over the top balls, made a nice move to his right and threaded a great pass splitting 2 defenders and sending Nick in alone again on the keeper. Nick calmly deposited the ball into the net. The remaining time quietly ticked away - a few exciting moments for Brooks - but the game ended 2-0 setting up an important Wednesday match against St. George's in Newport, RI. Looks like I'm going to have to take a day off for this one!!
