10/31/08 - Brooks 4 - Governor's 0 - Dads Game Review

Weather wise today was very similar to Wednesday.  The wind was whipping across the field throughout.  But at least my socks and shoes were dry so no complaints from me.  The game, well, the game was not pretty.  I don't believe Governor's had more than one opportunity in the Brooks end the whole game.  They played very chippy, going after players with cleats up quite often.  Zach and one of the Govoner's players went at it pretty hard on multiple occasions after the player cleated Zach in the ankle.  Turns out the kid was the older brother of one of Matt''s teammates.  Matt will have bragging rights for a while now!!  Even though the score was 4-0, it was a less than crisp performance by Brooks.  With BB&N coming on Wednesday, if they play like they played today, the score could be the same but going the other way.  On the plus side, Zach did record 2 assists putting his name back on the league leader board.  League stats can be found here http://islboyssoccer.sps.edu/stats.aspx  Zach is the only freshman to show up on that leader board so far this season.  Unfortunately, he will probably fall short of his goal to break current US National Team and former Brooks star Charlie Davies record of 10 goals as a freshman.  A very impressive freshman year for Zach none the less.  I'm very proud of what he's been able to accomplish.
