St. Paul's and Brooks, back to their traditional season ending match, played a spirited ninety minutes on another foul weather Saturday. The Pelicans looked much the more comfortable side in the early going and jumped out to a lead on Brian Chung's 13th minute finish from a mess in the Brooks backline. But the home side, with their tournament stake on the line, responded with three of their most elegant goals of the season in a fifteen minute span some ten minutes later. Senior captain Nick Vozzella deftly beat Sisler going in alone from artful service by Zach Vieira. It was a freshman combination for the second as Vieira found Sam Milbury in front and he finished with equal equanimity. Vozzella again struck, this time unassisted, to finish things out and close out his rather impressive ISL career.
Both teams competed hard and fairly throughout the second half, but the conditions and staunch defending both ways precluded more scoring. Both team are to be commended for their spirit, perseverance and great respect for the game.
