11/4/09 Brooks 2 - BB&N 3 - Dads Game Review

Brooks came out fast tonight and carried the play to BB&N for the first 15 minutes.  The tide began to turn over the next 15 minutes and BB&N struck first.  Wasn't a pretty goal but a goal none the less.  Nick, brought Brooks back even a short time later.  Unfortunately, a yellow card to Bert and his subsequent dismissal from the game for receiving a third yellow this season right after Nick's goal really put Brooks on its heels.  BB&N carried the play for the balance of the half taking the lead on Zach's turnover near mid field, followed by 2 quick passes and the ball was in the net.  The second half proved no better for Brooks.  Another yellow card about 10 minutes in had the boys chirping at the referee.  A third goal by BB&N was followed by a third yellow for Brooks.  Shortly after, Sam picked up yet another yellow.  Unfortunately for Sam it was his third yellow of the season and that meant both he and Bert would need to sit the next game against Nobles.  An unfortunate ending to a game that started so well.  Dusty hit it dead on when we chatted after the game; "We lost our composure in the second half."  What else can you say?

An interesting footnote on the game.  BB&N senior Che Edouard, a very good player and someone that looked very familiar to me.  Not sure why but just one of those things I guess.  Well as the game went on, the more I heard the name Che the more I thought about it.  As it turns out, Zach met Che at Andover Montessori.  Che was in lower elementary and Zach in childrens house.  Zach learned to play soccer with Che on the ASF fields at recess. I remember Zach telling me he was playing soccer with the big boys.  Once Cheryl and I started talking about it Cheryl spotted Che's mom on the sideline.  They had a confirming conversation a little later.  When Zach got home later that night I asked him if he realized who he played against tonight.  He didn't, but as soon as I mentioned learning to play soccer with the big boys from ASM he sure did remember Che.
