10/7/09 - Brooks 1 - Thayer Academy 0 - Dads Game Review

Very tough conditions today.  Thayer took the wind in the first half and pressured Brooks throughout.  Thayer played many Brooks miscues into good opportunities.  Glen made a number of key saves in the half.  Brooks had a few chances of their own, but Zach's ODP friend Domenic Quade turned them away.  The second half kickoff, along with the wind, turned the tide. Brooks put heavy pressure on Thayer but continually missed that last pass that might have led to a goal.  As with Brooks in the first half, Thayer had a few opportunities.  Glen was up to them all.  The last 5 minutes of the game were incredible.  Relentless pressure by Brooks.  After five consecutive corner kicks didn't produce anything, all thought this one would end in a 0-0 tie.  With under 30 seconds to go, Matt Geremia floated a beautiful left to right cross from the 18.  Zach missed heading it in for the goal by inches.  But, the Green flash of the day, Nick Potter, dove head first and played the ball off his face into the net.  Bloodied, Nick and the rest of the Green awaited the Thayer kickoff.  Brooks took possession and the final whistle came (thankfully!).
